Our Veterinarians
Dr. Robert Martin

VETERINARIAN

 Dr. Martin is a graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been in private practice since 1980 and is an owner of Care Animal Center. Dr. Martin is a member of the AVMA, ALVMA, SEAVMA and GDVMA. He has served as past president of the GDVMA, the ALVMA, and the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. Dr. Martin was selected as the Veterinarian of the Year in 2005 by the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Martin currently practices companion animal medicine and surgery.

He is a member of the Dothan Kiwanis Club and Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where he serves as an elder. Dr. Martin and his wife, Liz, are the proud parents of three children Robert, Joshua, and Nanette, and 11 grandchildren. 

Dr. Ken Clark

VETERINARIAN

A graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Clark has been involved in private practice since 1984. He is an owner of Care Animal Center where he practices companion animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Clark is a member of the AVMA, ALVMA, SEAVMA, and GDVMA veterinary medical associations. He is a past president of the GDVMA. He is also a member of the Dothan Kiwanis Club where he has served as past president. He’s married to his beautiful wife, Konie, and they have 25 grandchildren, with that number continuing to grow each year. 

Dr. Will Duke

VETERINARIAN

Dr. Duke graduated from Mississippi State University in 1995. He currently practices companion, avian, and exotic animal medicine and surgery and is a co-owner of Care Animal Center. He is a member of the American, Alabama, Southeast Alabama, and Greater Dothan Veterinary Medical Associations. He has served as president of the Southeast and Greater Dothan VMA. Dr. Duke has been a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians since 1997.  He is also a member of the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV) and the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV).

The Duke family currently has a Kota (Husky), Shelby (German Shepherd), Steve (Bearded Dragon), and Tux (Turtle). Dr. Duke and Elizabeth are the proud parents of John William, Abigail, Caleb, Elijah, Joshua, Gideon, Susanna, and Luke. They are members of Mount Gilead Baptist Church. 

Dr. Kirk Holland

VETERINARIAN

 Dr. Holland practices companion animal medicine and surgery and is a co-owner of Care Animal Center. He graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine with honors in 2000. He is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Alabama VMA, Southeast Alabama VMA, and the Greater Dothan VMA. He is a past president of the Alabama VMA, the Greater Dothan WMA, and the Southeast Alabama VMA. He is married to Kathleen, and they have a son, Will. They have a golden doodle named Sam and a labradoodle named Josie. The Hollands are members of Logos Baptist Church and reside in Dothan.

Dr. Abby Long

VETERINARIAN

Dr. Long was born and raised in Dothan and graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She was in private practice for 5 years in Birmingham, Alabama followed by 5 years in Foley, Alabama before joining Care Animal Center in June 2022.

She currently practices companion animal medicine and surgery, and branching out into some exotic animal medicine, with a particular interest in soft tissue surgery, oncology, and ultrasonography. Dr. Long is an active member of the American, Alabama, Southeast Alabama, and Greater Dothan Veterinary Medical Associations.

Dr. Long, along with her husband Dean, are the proud parents of a baby girl, Morgan Reese, and 3 fur babies, Dunkin (Golden Retriever), Avery (lab mix), and Delilah (Tuxedo kitty).

Heather

Veterinary Technician

Heather has worked in the veterinary field for over 28 years. She has been at Care Animal Center since 2006. She loves assisting in surgery and takes great pride in her nursing skills. Heather and her husband, Johnnie, live in Dothan along with their Dachshunds and Min Pin.

Amanda

Veterinary Technician/ Marketing

Amanda has worked in the veterinary field for over 13 years. She has been at Care Animal Center since 2015. Her love for animals is one of the many reasons she chose this career path. In her free time she loves DIY projects, music/theatre, playing with her 3 dogs & cat, and spending time with friends and family.

Melanie

Veterinary Technician

Melanie has worked in the veterinary field for over 15 years. She has been with Care Animal Center since 2021.Melanie comes to us from Pittsburgh, PA and she holds certifications as a Fear Free Veterinary Professional, in Nutrition Case Management, and is pursuing certification in Veterinary Practice Management. She enjoys spending her free time with her 2 children, watching football and taking care of her myriad of pets.

Hannah:

Veterinary Technician

Hannah has worked in the veterinary field for almost 2 years. She has been with Care Animal Center since 2021. She has a love for rescuing and fostering dogs, partnering with Troy Animal Rescue, and has had up to 25 at one time. If she’s not loving and playing with her fosters, you can find her spending time with her 8 personal dogs and multiple guinea pigs, enjoying the outdoors, attending her church and taking pictures of all species of animals. Hannah has completed her Bachelor degree in Pre-Veterinary Science and still continues her education in Veterinary Degree.

Grace

Veterinary Technician

Grace has worked in the veterinary field for 5 years. She has been with Care Animal Center since 2021. She made the transition from emergency/surgery to the general practice field. She is a native of Ashford, AL. She currently owns 7 horses, 4 dogs and 2 cats. Grace enjoys barrel racing, horseback riding and camping with her family during her spare time away from her fur babies.

Shannon

Veterinary Technician

Shannon has worked in the veterinary field for over 12 years. She has been with Care Animal Center since October 2021. She is originally from South Florida. She has 2 dogs, Benny and Birdie.

Stephanie

Veterinary Technician

Stephanie has been in the veterinary field for 3 years and joined Care Animal Center May of 2022. She is originally from California and now resides in the south with her husband and her Hound dog named Apollo.

Hallie

Veterinary Technician

Hallie has worked in the veterinary field since 2017. She joined the Care team June of 2022. Hallie loves veterinary medicine for the diversity of challenges that occurs everyday, this is what attracts her to this line of work. She loves to learn new things and enjoys the fact that every day is different. Hallie has 2 cats, Dusti and Bentley, and one dog named Bubba. When she's not at work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and crafting with her family.

Allison

Veterinary Technician

Allison has worked with animals for over 4 years. She has been with Care Animal Center since October 2022. She has a passion for animals and has 3 dogs and 2 cats of her own.
Client Relations

Michelle

Client relations/ Office Manager

Michelle has worked in the veterinary field for over 13 years. She has been with Care Animal Center since 2009 and has a degree in accounting. She is known for keeping the front office girls in line, getting things “done” and lives to work day-to-day projects that is thrown at her. She loves interacting with clients and most of all “puppies!” Michelle most of all enjoys motherhood with her 2 boys and spending time with her family, friends and her dogs, Gypsy and Saint.

Denise

Client Relations

Denise has worked in the veterinary field for over 11 years. She has been with Care Animal Center since 2011. Denise moved to Dothan in 2007 from Ft. Gaines, GA where she worked for State of Georgia, “GO DAWGS!” She now resides in Dothan with her husband, Jason. She has a daughter, son and 5 grandchildren. She currently has 3 dogs.

Sandy

Client Relations

Sandy has worked in the veterinary field for over 21 years. She has been with Care Animal Center since 2010. She enjoys her job because she loves how different her days can be not to mention her love for all of the patients. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her BIG family!

Alex

Client Relations

Alex has worked in the veterinary field for over 7 years. She has been with Care Animal Center working client relations since 2020. She has worked as a kennel technician and transitioned her way to client relations. When she is not at Care she is spending time with her family, sleeping or playing with her house full of fur babies. She loves Care and is very thankful to be a part of this team!

Alex

Client Relations

Alex has been with Care Animal Center since December 2021. Prior to working at Care, she worked with our local Wiregrass Humane Society(WHS) for 1 year. Alex moved to Alabama back in 2020. In 2018 Alex received her certification as a Veterinary Assistant. While working with WHS her love for helping animals grew. When she’s not at work, she’s at home hanging with her family and her own 3 dogs.

Mike

Practice Manager/ Client Relations

Mike joined Care Animal Center team in May, 2021, as our Practice Manager following a 40-year career in hospital operations administration. Mike views his role as “helping to enable each member of our team to be successful in their job…if I am able to that, then Care Animal Center will be able to continue it’s long tradition of providing excellent care and service to pet lovers in our community.”

Mike and his wife Twyla are the proud parents of 2 children, Ryan and Haley (Haley is the current girls soccer and girls flag football coach at Dothan High School); proud grandparents of 3 grandsons, Wells, Harris, and Lucas; and the proud parents of Taco (Haley’s rescue dog)!

Brenda

Client Relations

Brenda has worked in the veterinary field for over 15 years. She has been with Care Animal Center since February 2022 working part time. She retired in 2016 after over 45 years in the medical field on the administration side. She also worked as Chief Operations Officer for Albany Mental Health and Substance Abuse in Albany, GA. Even after retirement, so continued to work with fraud and theft investigations for small businesses. She is married to her husband Gene and has 3 kids; Curtis, Susan and Tim. They have 2 “rotten” dogs, love to travel, and play golf.
Animal Caretakers

Nina

Animal Caretaker

Nina has been with Care Animal Center since January 2022. She worked with our local Wiregrass Humane Society for a year prior to joining our team at Care. After caring for the animals at the Wiregrass Humane Society, her passion for caring for animals led her to join our team. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her son, boyfriend, fur babies, and family.

Brianna

Animal Caretaker

Brianna has been with Care Animal Center since 2022. She first started volunteering in January and then joined our working team in May. She has always wanted to work with animals and started working with horses and livestock at the age of 9 until she graduated high school in 2020. Brianna then went to college for Pre Vet Tech and now is applying for Vet Tech school in 2023 in hopes to be an Equine Vet. When she is not working she is spending time with her 4 dogs (Casper, Ariel, Simba and Naala) and studying.

Jeff

Maintenance/ EVS

Jeff has been with Care Animal Center since October 1999. He is originally from Ft. Pierce, FL “GO GATORS”, and moved to Dothan almost 20 years ago. He is married to his beautiful wife, Latissa. Jeff is an early bird and typically comes into work hours before opening to make sure Care is ready to take on the day!
